Christmas was wonderful this year especially with Scarlett.
Christmas Eve & Day we celebrated with Ryan's family and "Grandma & Grandpa" sure made Scarlett's 1st Christmas special with all the beautiful toys and to top it off blueberry pancakes on Christmas morning. Scarlett loved seeing all the relatives but was really wishing for some kids to play with! Next year there will be a new cousin added to the family and she will be just thrilled to have a playmate! Thanks Emily :0)
Ryan and I went pheasant hunting on Christmas day morning which was actually my first time out and I really enjoyed it! A good romp through thigh high snow and reeds is always enjoyable. Ok, if it wasn't for the really beautiful sunny day it would have been quite miserable. Good exercise though!
On Friday and Saturday we celebrated with my family. Scarlett loved seeing her cousins and right away gave Haakon, Marit & Thor all hugs. We also had the blessing of having Kelsey, Tim and the boys there as well - such a beautiful family...we love you guys!
Nana & Papa, Sarah & Pete, Rebekah, Grant, Haakon, Marit & Thor just showered Scarlett with such beautiful presents...thank you! She loves everything! The fridge letters are especially a big hit!
Scarlett's special present from her mommy & daddy was a white baby grand piano. She opened it on Saturday morning with such delight!
Scarlett also got her 2 front teeth for Christmas and it sure comes in handy eating her new favorite food...pizza!

The only sad news was to say goodbye to Rebekah, Grant & Family until the summer when they move back for good. We are sure going to miss them but we are looking forward to the days when they will be close to us.

Happy New Year and May God bless you in the coming year. Much Love from the Hauge home.

Scarlett - you will always be the best present God could have ever blessed your mommy and daddy with. We love you so much.

Scarlett and I had the best day on Wednesday. I had the day off from work and we went Christmas shopping @ the outlet malls. Scarlett turned 11 mo. that day so it was a great reason to celebrate. Just her and I went to Perkins to celebrate over blueberry pancakes (her favorite) and some hot chocolate.
I am saving the best for last...Scarlett walked that day! Not until that evening when we got back from shopping did she start but she did it! Unassisted totally walking. It was so fun to see and even better present for mommy that she did it for me the first time instead of @ daycare. She was so excited too because she realized what she was doing was pretty special.
I added a new video of the event when daddy came home. Enjoy!

Basketball season is in full swing and Scarlett is enjoying ever minute of it. So far her daddy has won and lost his first two games of the season as the head coach of St. Francis High School Boys Basketball. She gets so excited when she watches the games...she stands up in my lap and says "oh, oh, oh"! and points her finger...it's so cute.

We celebrated Auntie Sarah's birthday last night and Scarlett was so excited to see her auntie and her new friend Jaycee!

A big congratulations to Todd and Briana for the birth of their baby girl Carly! We are so excited to meet her.

Scarlett can now say "momma" and I can't tell you how it's music to my ears. Her favorite toys right now are my dollys...she carries them all over the house giving them hugs and kisses...it's so sweet.

Christmas will be so wonderful this year with our little pumpkin to celebrate with. We have already been telling her about Baby Jesus and how he was born at Christmas time and that is the reason we celebrate. I'm not sure she quite understands this just yet - she is pretty sure it's Christmas trees that are the new black - LOVES THEM!

It's that magical time of year and Scarlett is just thrilled to be a part of it.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family at Sarah & Pete's house. Thanks to my mom & Rebekah we had plenty lefse which in my family is way more important than the turkey. Scarlett loved her feast of turkey, mash potatoes, veggies & of course lefse...I can't remember if she got a taste of pie...probably not!
On Sunday she helped Ryan and I put up our Christmas tree. She just can't seem to understand why we would put so many balls dolls toys and sparkly things on a tree and then tell her "no touch". Yes, learning the work "no" has started in our house.
Ever since Sunday all we have been listening to in our house is Christmas music and everytime the "Christmas Shoes" song comes on I can't help but tear up! Scarlett's favorite by far is "All I Want is a Hippopotamus for Christmas"...don't ask me why but she thinks it's the greatest song ever.
She still isn't walking but everyone assures me that as parents that's a blessing. I still think any day but then again it could be months.
We are sure blessed this year as always but having Scarlett makes this Christmas extra special.

I was just reminiscing the other day while I was picking up Scarlett's room about the weekend when Ryan and I went to pick up Scarlett's crib and put it all together in the freshly painted pink striped room. It was such an exciting time last fall / winter spending time nesting all while anticipating the arrival of our little Scarlett. I just cannot believe she is almost 10 months old!

She has taken a step or two but then she get's a little afraid of falling so she stops and starts crawling again. Any day she might just take off!

Last weekend we celebrated Marit's 2nd birthday at the most amazing Tinkerbelle party in Pixi Hollow - aka Climax @ Nana & Papa's. Scarlett and Marit had Tinkerbelle costumes...so cute! Scarlett so enjoys being with her cousins and it's so fun to see them all together. She also got to see her cousins, Meghan, Olivia & Maddie, and her friends Alex, Otto, Noah & Hunter, Jesse Lynn & Luke! Yes, she is quite the social butterfly!

We also had a great Pumpkin Day as we like to call October 31st! I made Scarlett a tulle pumpkin dress complete with a hair accessory and she was able to see her friend Maari Kvidt who also had the most adorable tulle outfit.
(Maari's mom & Scarlett's mom discussed how fun it would be to just be @ home and be domestic goddesses all day making the girls all sorts of fun things!). See it's so much fun trying to be "Super Mom" every day. I just hope I never reach my breaking point...oh all the hats one must wear.

Scarlett came down with her first ear infection. Her mommy and daddy feel so bad for her! We got her on some antibiotics and she LOVES her pink medicine. Thank goodness for strawberry flavored medicine! She is already feeling a little better.

p.s. only 5 more weeks until Christmas!

Scarlett has discovered pumpkins and boy does she ever think they are fun! I don't know if it's the funny shape or the color but she loves them. On Sunday evening Auntie Sarah and I took her to a pumkin patch so we could pick out a few for our steps and we were able to capture some precious moments.

This past weekend we were able to spend time with Rebekah & Baby Thor which was so much fun. We maybe had a little too much fun shopping but it doesn't really count when it's for the kids right?

Scarlett is 9 months old now and moving from baby to little girl. She is getting pretty brave at standing all by herself but she hasn't decided to take her first steps. I am sure that will come soon enough! Her favorite expression is "oh!" and her latest food that she loves is blueberry pancakes.

Abbey:  Miss Scarlett - you are a little girl! Soon you'll be calling little Maari (who won't be so little) for play dates. Oh the memories yet to be made!
    Love, Abbey

Scarlett came home from daycare today saying "ba ba ba ba" ...do you think she means ma ma? She is already saying "da da".
She is just turning into such a big girl I don't know where the time goes. She has gone from army crawling to actual crawling and is walking while holding onto various things around the house all while looking so proud. She has started her second round of teething and the poor thing is just waking up so much at night I feel bad for her (& myself!). Her hair is growing too into pretty soft red curls.

We were able to make it up north to see Rebekah, Haakon, Marit and most importantly baby Thor. He is so precious we couldn't get enough of him. Scarlett just loved baby Thor too but she thought Haakon & Marit were fabulous. She would just giggle watching them play. It's amazing how much kids love eachother.

This past weekend was Ryan's cousin Emily's wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding and Scarlett loved all the attention from her relatives and especially her Grandma & Grandpa Hauge.

A Typical Day in the Life of Scarlett Hauge:

2:00 am: Mommy my teeth hurt please come and pick me up out of my crib and cuddle and nurse me.

5:00 am: OWEE! They hurt again...mommy come and get me!

6:45 am: I am up for the day. Quick diaper change and new clothes and I am off to daycare

7:20 am: Arrive @ daycare and give Colleen (daycare lady) a big smile and hug and off to play with the kids.

5:00 pm: Mom's here...yay! I am so excited! Daycare was fun but mom & dad are better.

5:15 pm: Back at home I get to play with all my fun toys after I nurse with mommy. Daddy and I play with Malley - I even feed her doggy biscuits out of my hand!

6:30 pm: Supper time...what's mommy going to try to feed be now...why does she always wait to give me the fruit until the end!

6:45 pm: Bath Time! I LOVE bath time - It's where I practice my Michael Phelps moves.

7:15 pm: Story Time! I love to stand by my book shelf and pull out all the books mommy and daddy will read to me.

7:30 pm: OK, now I am really tired! Mommy I want to nurse and go to sleep.

8:00 pm: Our princess is sound aleep. She loves her crib. The second you lay her in there she grabs her cozy blanky and curls over.

Scarlet's sweet cousins, Haakon, Marit & Baby Thor are safe and sound from Hurricane Ike in Austin, TX. There is even a chance they could be coming up north to visit until their electricity returns - we are so excited!

We went to the U of M Gopher football game this weekend and yes, like everywhere else we go, Scarlett came too. She was such a great sport for the majority of the game thanks to a little item AKA ear plugs! Without them there is no way she would have gotten her nap in.
Her favorite part of the game was watching the dancers and the halftime show with the marching band. She is still trying to decide which instrument she would like to play - tuba or trombone. I'm trying to convince her that my piccolo is more her size.
Scarlett has also been to two St. Francis Football games and she loves those too especially since they are outside. We also enjoy sitting with daddy at the games since that is a rare occurrence at any St. Francis event!

Baby Thor is here! My sister Rebekah gave birth on Sunday to a beautiful baby boy, Thor Steven Ray Seeger. He was 8 lbs. 10 oz. and just as cute as can be. We are just so sad we can't be there to see him and take care of you Rebekah! (poor girl ended up with a c-section). I am sure Grant, Haakon & Marit are doing a wonderful job. We just praise the Lord for bringing him into this world safe and sound.

Scarlett has been a busy little girl as of late. She has been to Kerkhoven to spend time with Grandma & Grandpa Hauge where she just loved all the attention and hugs and kisses. She also got to see her Great Grandpa Wheeler which was especially special.

Last week her Nana came to spend the week with us because Scarlett's daycare lady was taking a much needed vacation. I have now been trying to persuade my mom to move in with us...Ryan didn't even object. You don't know how thrilling, completely elated, over the moon I was to come home from work to supper in the oven, clean sheets, happy baby girl, 100 loads of laundry clean and folded, spotless floors, sparkling windows...I could go on and on but you would start drooling when I mention the homemade cinnamon rolls and hot coffee with whip cream that would await me in the morning...no it wasn't a dream...it's my mom.
Scarlett was such a happy girl to be with her Nana and especially loved story time!
I still need to convince my dad that His perfect life would be fabulous for mine! I don't think he is as convinced.

Our Labor Day weekend started out by going to the State Fair with Auntie Sarah & Mom (Nana). Scarlett thoroughly enjoyed herself especially getting to see all the animals. Maybe next year she can sample the fair food! Oh, since the fair is all about the food I had to mention my fav. was Lefse with berries, almonds and whip cream!

The last half of the weekend we spent at our friend’s lake home and scarlett got to see fish up close and personal! First it was a catfish and then a little sunny…that one she got to hold and really she just wanted to eat it! She loved touching the fish.

    Ok last but not least:
1.) Scarlett is pulling herself up on everything!
2.) She has one really big bottom tooth and one really little tooth right next to it.
3.) She does this super cute little beauty queen wave
4.) She is such a good eater and her new foods would include yogurt!

    Comments:
Kelsey:  What a fun post to read! I wish your mom would move in with us too! Tim would be in heaven! Moms are the best! I get to see mine in a few days, we're excited! Give the family hugs from me!
Mary:  Another cute background page Bridge! I'm so glad your Mom came and took good care of you all. She is awesome! What a great Nana and the sweetest Mom ever! I love it when Mom's come to our rescue. I can't wait to see Scarlett - she is doing so much so early! She is clearly advanced. :) Congratulations on being an Auntie again. Thor is beautiful.
Abbey:  Aren't Nana's the best?! I wish mine would move in too!
Auntie Rebekah:  Thanks you guys for the cute post. We loved reading about how fabulous your end of summer has been and how amazing your week with Nana was. I am counting the days till she is here with us!!! Thor and I are home for our first day. Daddy and kids went off to work. Love to you all!

    Yay! The cousins!!!!
Scarlett got to see her dear cousins, Haakon & Marit last weekend in Climax. Rebekah, Grant, Haakon & Marit were home for Grants sisters wedding so Pete, Sarah, Ryan, Scarlett & I made the trip up north to see everyone.
Wow, poor Nana & Papa is all I gotta say, putting up with all the craziness but I know they loved it.
Scarlett just loved playing with the kids and they loved her too. We can't wait until they move back for good!

Scarlett had her 6 mo. check up last week and Dr. Z says that she is doing great - except for a couple things...ok one thing...she told me picking Scarlett up at night when she cries (2 - 3 times) and nursing her should probably come to an end.
So, Ryan and I are practicing a little tough love which consists of the following if you have a baby that doesn't sleep through the night...(no comments here from moms with children who sleep through the night (Abbey)!)
Scarlett wakes us up crying like someone just stole her fav. dolly, stepped on her toe, told her she must never wear pink all while she is dangling from her mobile! (not literally)
So, Ryan and I take turns walking into her perfectly cozy pink princess room and rub her back or tummy, give her blankly, binky & cuddly toy and say "shhhhhhh"...It is quite an effective method but it takes awhile for her crying to stop.
So, that's mom & dads fun new activity at night.

    Scarlett's new activities include:
Eating like a champ-which her parents are so proud of her for!
Going from her tummy to completely sitting up on her own.
    Crawling faster & faster!
    Playing "catch" with daddy.

    Comments:
Tanya:  You are braver than I! Alex is over 14 months old and I still get up with him at night to nurse. Well, kinda'. He's also still in our bed, which makes it easier! :) I think that it's just as hard on mommy as it is on the baby, but that is our next goal...let me know your tips!
Nikki Massmann:  Bridget, I am a friend of Rebekah's. I have to tell you to keep up the good work with getting Scarlett to sleep through the night. I did this with both my children (only I wasn't as nice as you, I just let them cry) when they were about 6 or 7 months, and it only lasted a few days! After a few days, they were sleeping soundly all night, and both of them STILL go to bed like little champs every night, no matter if we are home or at Grandma's. You will be so happy when it's all over, I promise! :)
