July 2008

Last weekend Scarlett experienced her first Minnesota Twins game with her Auntie Sarah and Uncle Peter. The event started out perfect...great pink tiwns outfit thanks to Grandpa & Grandma Hauge but 20 minutes in Scarlett was the saddest girl in the world! Everytime the Twins had a run and the crowd screamed with delight Scarlett just bawled in sheer torment. It was just too loud and scary for the 6 mo. old. We left just 45 min. into the game. It was a good decision. Needless to say Scarlett isn't a fan! We will try again next summer.

For some reason 6 mo. must be a monumental age. Scarlett is definitley developing quite a personality. She knows what she wants and she lets you know! She also has started to cry now when I leave her at daycare. She reaches out for me and says "mommmmmmmmmmyyyyy" or at least that's what I think she is saying. That makes my "mom guilt" even worse than it already is for leaving her.

Since my last entry the next foods Scarlett has tried are Peas, Banana's & applesauce. I have realized she will only eat for me when the following are in place:
A: Her tummy is full of mommy's milk
B: She has had a little nap
C: She is in a relativly good mood

Also, she doesn't open her mouth...she just licks the spoon as she holds onto it with her left hand while she grabs onto the bowl with her right. What a great "assistant"!

    Comments:
Auntie Sarah:  Scarlett you did look very adorable at the Twins Game! I can't wait until you are old enough to eat cotton candy with me! :) Love you lots!
cuzzy cara:  Oh, Bridget, you are such a good mommy! I love to read your entries.
Abbey:  Oh Bridget that is just too cute!

My baby girl is 6 months old today. I can hardly believe it's already been 6 months since the day she was born.
She has grown so much and is doing so many amazing things!
On Monday she crawled for the fist time. Now, granted it's pretty much army crawling and not for very long or far but we were pretty impressed. Along with crawling she has started on rice cereal and tonight she had her first bite of real food...CARROTS! Yes, that's the tasty first food I picked for Scarlett. She seems to really like carrots - the few little bites that made it from the spoon into her tummy. She is still a spit up champ though...adding carrots into the mix makes it a little more interesting to say the least. Along with still spitting up she is not a fan of sleeping through the night. Scarlett just loves her momma so much she wants to see me (nurse) 2 to 3 times a night.
    Sleep...it's over rated anyway, right?
The other super cute thing she is doing is she will reach for me when she wants me...it's so sweet I can hardly stand it. I think she is a momma's girl but no one can make her laugh like her daddy.

Last weekend we went to the lake and she was able to see both sets of grandparents. She loved all the attention and they loved seeing their granddaughter.

I kinda dropped the ball tonight - I was going to make a chocolate cake to celebrate her 6 mo. birthday but I was too tired. Don't worry Scarlett, for your 1st birthday the cake will be just fabulous!
We love you so much precious girl and we thank God everyday for giving you to us.

Abbey:  Oh Bridget - she is getting so big and has so many new tricks - how exciting!?!
Us mom's have enough to do without making fabulous half birthday cakes! You did just fine. Take care! Hope to see you guys soon! Love ya!
Auntie Beka:  ahh, that was so much fun to read! Can't wait to hug and kiss her soon!

Yes, it's 10:30 pm and I really need to go to bed...Scarlett's sleeping, the kitchen is clean and I just had a nummy dish of ice cream that Ryan was so wonderful to buy for me since lately I have been obsessed with the dairy queen...no I am not prego I just like ice cream.

I had to fill you in on our 4th of July weekend!
Well, poor Scarlett is all I have to say. We threw her right into the annual cobber 4th of July festivities complete with "themed" days and all.

    Day 1:
Camo Day...and yes, you might say "haven't we already seen pics of your family in camo?" The answer is yes...what can we say...it's an easy "themed" day because my little sister has a whole bag of clothes dedicated to this purpose.

    Day 2:
4th of July Fabulousness...The night before we were to leave I was sewing up a storm until midnight making Scarlett and her friend Maari hairbows for their outfits as well as a tank for myself. Everyone of our friends were completely decked out in good old red white and blue complete with rhinestone tattoos and princess crowns.

    Day 3:
Earth Muffin Day for the ladies and Blaze Orange Day for the guys. I am sure right now you are saying..."what in the world is an Earth Muffin?" Well here is the exact definition thanks to the ever popular Urban Dictionary...
    EARTH MUFFIN:
Environmentally conscience, socially aware, recycles when she can, prefers organic or natural products, and will drive out of the way to support mom and pop before large consumer corporations. She’s a modern hippy but also has a practical side. She’s cute, showers regularly, and encourages others to do the right thing without being judgmental or critical.
Based on this definition I am a total Earth Muffin and so are most of my girlfriends. Most of the guys are a little slow and haven't caught on to green being the new black...whatever.

All I can say is Scarlett had allot of excitement for her first Fourth of July. She seemed to love the lake and all the pontoon rides as well as being thoroughly amused by all our crazy wonderful friends.

God Bless the USA! (and...go green!)
